"Let us cheerfully do all things"
Oh how I love this topic..I think it is one of the best yet hardest concepts for us to learn. Almost impossible to master though! She points out that security is mostly a superstition none of us are exempt from the trials and woes of the world. "Do what you can, do it cheerfully, and trust God to do the rest." I am the biggest control freak you may ever meet, so for me just leaving things in the hands of someone else is near impossible. However, what a comfort it is to know that the Lord knows what is best for us at all times.
Our capacity for happiness is:
50% Genes
10% Circumstance
40% Choice
Basically we have control over less than half! So we must make deliberate choices to be happy!
1. Find joy in the small things of life, make things fun!
2. Do things that actually have a purpose and that matter in the eternal perspective.
3. Sacrifice. Sometimes we need to give up things that we enjoy to do things that bring us closer to Christ.
There are two things that are most likely to bring happiness into our lives.
1. Our relationships
2. Serving those around us
Last night my husband and I stumbled upon the Dave Ramsey site (which has a lot of great info on saving, budgeting, and making your money work for you) and he had five tips. They all made sense and were expected but the last one says "Be a giver". Unexpected, however I love that he points out that giving actually helps curb your spending habits and brings you happiness!
Well enough about the recipe, its easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. To be dragged down with the trials and depressing things that are happening around us, but have a broader perspective and just be happy. Coming from a family where most people are constantly on antidepressants..I want to make choices to help keep me happy and positive!
I found a few things that I thought were fun and happy to share with you!
